Traveling and hotels are a great combo because they provide the luxury and comfort of sleeping in a private room while enjoying all of the amenities that the hotel has to offer. From long hot showers to room service to the ability to control the temperature of the hotel room at the push of a button hotels can really be a travelers paradise.
Hotels usually provide accommodation in private rooms which are rented out for a fee and they can range from small “mom-and-pop” joints to huge resorts and everything in between. They are generally geared towards two groups of travellers; business travellers and leisure travellers. Those that cater for business travellers are often situated close to places that a business traveller would want to visit and have a range of amenities and facilities specifically geared towards them.
Hotel rooms vary from standard to deluxe suites and even include novelty rooms such as honeymoon suites. Some hotels have kitchens or cooking facilities in the rooms which permit travellers to avoid spending money on eating in the hotel restaurants. Others have speciality rooms such as bridal or wedding suites which are more expensive.
Many large hospitality companies operate multiple chains and brands to allow them to be able to cater for different budgets. For example a Hilton hotel might have an offshoot brand called Hampton by Hilton which offers less luxury hotels with lower prices. This allows the hotel company to compete with the likes of Days Inn or Knights Inn without jeopardizing their reputation for quality at the other end of the spectrum.
